Cardiac Arrest Flashcards
Primary focus in cardiac arrest
High performance CPR & defibrillation where appropriate
LUCAS should be placed only after:
2 cycles (4 minutes) of HP-CPR
BCM ventilation should be started ___
Immediately upon recognizing ineffective respirations
Initial defib pad placement:
Anterior/posterior
After 3rd defibrillation (VT/VF), if 2 monitors available, you should:
Place secondary defib pads in “traditional” placement for DSD
Initial drug once IV access is accomplished:
Epi 1:10,000
Initial Epi dose:
1 mg rapid IVP
Second/subsequent Epi dose for all pulseless rhythms
2 mg in 250cc via pump
Asystole/PEA dose for Epi drip
100 mcg/min
VF/pVT dose for Epi drip
50 mcg/min
Subsequent dose(s) of Epi should be given after ___
10 minutes following initial dose
Epi should be administered ___ for VF/VT arrests
After Amiodarone & 2nd defibrillation
Drug sequence for VF/VT arrest
Shock > Amiodarone > Shock > Epi 1:10 > Shock > magnesium sulfate
Calcium chloride dose for suspected hyperkalemia
1 gram IV/IO & flush 10 cc
Calcium gluconate dose for suspected hyperkalemia
2 grand IV/IO & flush
