Cardiac Anatomy Flashcards
Draw the coronary arteries
.
Describe R, L and Co dominant coronary circulation. How common is each type?
R: PDA from RCA (85%)
L: PDA from LCx (8%)
Co: PDA from both (7%)
What does the LAD supply?
Anterior 2/3 of interventricular septum
Anterior LV
What does the LCx supply?
Lateral and Posterior LV
What does the R acute artery supply?
RV
What does the PDA supply?
Posterior 2/3 of RV+LV
Posterior 1/3 of interventricular septum
Which artery supplies the SA and AV nodes
RCA (SA from LCA in 40% of cases)
What are the layers of the heart from outside to inside?
Fibrous pericardium Parietal pericardium Visceral pericardium Epicardium Myocardium Endocardium
Which valves have 2 leaflets?
Just mitral (bicuspid)
Draw the conduction pathway of the heart
.
What parts of the heart are innervated by the sympathetic nervous system?
SA, AV, Ventricular myocardium, vasculature
What parts of the heart are innervated by the parasympathetic nervous system?
SA, AV, Atrial myocardium
What are the surface landmarks of the R border of the heart?
Right 3rd-6th costal cartilage just beyond the R side of the sternum
What are the surface landmarks of the inferior border of the heart?
Right 6th costal cartilage to the apex
What are the surface landmarks of the apex of the heart?
Left 5th intercostal space 9cm from midline
What are the surface landmarks of the L border of the heart?
Apex to lower 2nd costal cartilage 2cm from sternal margin
Where does the coronary sinus lie?
Posterior AV groove
Which 5 cardiac veins feed the coronary sinus?
- Great Cardiac vein (LAD)
- Middle Cardiac vein (PDA)
- Small Cardiac Vein (RCA)
- Posterior vein of Left Ventricle
- Oblique vein of Left Atrium
Which arteries do the acute and obtuse marginal arteries come off of?
Obtuse marginal - LCx
Acute marginal - RCA
How is “Proximal” LAD defined
Area of LAD between its origin and the first diagonal branch (LADD1)
