Q

How is DCIS managed?

A

Localised: complete wide excision - ensuring surrounding tissue have no residual disease

Widespread/ multi focal : normally complete mastectomy

16
Q

How is LCIS usually diagnosed?

A

Incidental finding during breast biopsy

17
Q

How is LCIS managed?

A

Dependent on extent of disease
Low grade - monitoring rather than excision
If invasive component - bilateral prophylactic mastectomy if individual possess BRCA 1 or 2 , less likely to be associated with axilla ray nodal metastasis than DCIS

18
Q

What grades are there?

A

Low
Intermediate
High

Showing increasing cytological atypia
