Starch- sources: bread, pasta, cereal, potatoes etc
Dietary fibre-sources: whole cereals whole meal bread, whole grain

Sweet potato
Geeen peas
Popcorn
Backed beans
What’s dietary fibre
Found in unprocessed foods like whole grain
Functions of fibre
Absorbs water as it passes through the digestive system,bulks waste and allows it to pass through the intestine more easily and prevents constipation
Prevents bowel disease such as cancer
Give the feeling of fullness
Ways to increase fibre in the diet
Avoid refined CHOs (white flour white bread)
Eat whole grain alternatives
Eat raw fruit and veggies with skin where possible
Eat nuts or dried fruit
What is refined food
Highly prosedsed with many or all nutrients removed
