Carbon Dioxide Transport Part 1 Flashcards
1
Q
3 Plasma
A
- Carbamino Compound (1%)
- Bicarb (5%)
- Dissolved CO2 (5%)
2
Q
3 in RBC
A
- Bicarb (63%)
- Carbamino Hb (21%)
- Dissolved CO2 (5%)
3
Q
Chloride Shift
A
When HCO3 moves out of the RBC’s into the plasma and Cl- moves into the RBC to maintain equilibrium. In the plasma HCO3 combines with Na+ to form and then HCOs is transported to the lungs and NaHCO3.
