What are simple carbs?
Made from small carbohydrates, broken down and absorbed quickly by the body, found in refined sugars.
What are complex carbs?
Also known as starches or fibres, composed of long strings of simple carbohydrates and take longer to break down
What are examples of Simple Carbohydrates?
Pie, sugar, maple syrup, white bread, cookies, fruitopia, fruit loops, Pepsi/soda
Examples of complex carbohydrates?
Oatmeal, broccoli, corn, asparagus, brown rice, baked potatoes, strawberries, whole wheat bread, white bread
What does refined mean?
It means that the food is highly processed
