What conditions can be associated with bone sclerosis?

A

Metastatic prostate cancer
Metastatic breast cancer
Sickle cell disease
- due to marrow hyperplasia and bone infarction.

Breast carcinoma can cause sclerotic, lytic or mixed bone lesions.

Prostate cancer usually causes sclerotic lesions and very rarely causes lytic lesions.

A
  • those with family history of first degree relative with hip problems early in life
  • Breech presentation at 36 weeks - regardless of what presentation they were at delivery even if they had ECV
  • Breech presentation at delivery (if before 36 weeks)
