  1. Unembryonated thick shelled eggs passed in faeces
  2. Eggs become embryonated in water
  3. Infective develop in tissue of intermidiate host - fish
  4. Ingestion of raw undercooked infected fish
  5. Adults in small intestinal mucosa
  6. Females may produce two types of eggs embryonated and unembryonated
  7. Larvae reinfect

Clinical features

A

Enteropathy, malabsorption, fluid electrolyte and plasma protein loss
Anorexia
Abdominal pains
Severe protein loosing enteropathy
Cachexia
Dehydration
Anasarca
Serious cases may be fatal in 2 weeks to 2 months
