A
- Unembryonated thick shelled eggs passed in faeces
- Eggs become embryonated in water
- Infective develop in tissue of intermidiate host - fish
- Ingestion of raw undercooked infected fish
- Adults in small intestinal mucosa
- Females may produce two types of eggs embryonated and unembryonated
- Larvae reinfect

Clinical features
A
Enteropathy, malabsorption, fluid electrolyte and plasma protein loss
Anorexia
Abdominal pains
Severe protein loosing enteropathy
Cachexia
Dehydration
Anasarca
Serious cases may be fatal in 2 weeks to 2 months

Diagnosis
A
Double barreled and bipolar plugs: less prominent than T. Trichiura - C. Hepatica
Adult/larvae in stool- c. Philippines
Eggs/adult in liver biopsy- c. Hepatica
