Cannulations Flashcards
Single, Duel, triple stage cannulas used for?
Anything where you don’t need to go on the right side of the heart. I.e. repairing tricuspid valve pulmonary valve. It sits in the RA. If you used it in this case you would have nothing but air bc the RA is wide open
In coronaries, dissection, aortic valve require what type of cannulation?
Single, Duel, triple stage (all of these are on left side of the heart)
Bicaval cannulation is used when?
When working on right side of the heart or if moving heart a lot like a mitral valve replacement they may use it to get better return
Axillary cannulation used when?
When problem suspected with aorta/aortic root
Arterial you don’t want more than a _____mm gradient between line pressure and patient pressure at a flow of ___ L/Min
100mm
5 L
(look at a graph)
Why is IVC bigger than SVC?
More return coming back from lower extremities
Gravity matters in venous system in determining what size cannula T/F?
True
3-4kg baby with flow somewhere 800-900 cc what size approx in SVC/IVC?
12 Fr in SVC
14 Fr in IVC
LV vent is placed in the_______
Right superior pulmonary vein
Partial bypass may require a ______, why?
Vent
Because, you want to prevent distention
Most common type of cannula?
Duel stage
