What will cause asymmetrical atrophy in muscles?
If muscle is denervated.
In what tissues would keratinisation be considered abnormal?
Anything shiny exposed to outside.
What is neoplasia?
New growth without a stimulus.
Is neoplasia always premalignant?
No, it can have no malignant potential (squamous papilloma), can be pre-malignant or malignant.
What is a stellate mass likely to be?
Malignancy.
Are cysts usually malignant or benign?
Benign as they are translucent. Malignant things are more likely to be solid.
What are the 2 biggest causes of chronic pancreatitis?
Alcohol, gallstones.
What will a cancerous ulcer look like?
Asymmetrical with heaped up rolled edges.
Where is gastric cancer most commonly?
Lesser curve.
What is the definition of pleomorphism?
Variation in size and shape.
In what cancer does signet ring cells occur and why?
Carcinoma. Sometimes due to nuclei being pushed to the side by intracellular mucin.
