arise from epithelial tissue in external and internal lining of the body

cancers of the blood that originate in the bone marrow
lymphoma
cancers of the lymph system
two types of carcinomas
adenocarcinoma
squamous cell carcinoma
adenocarcinoma
develop in an organ or gland
squamous cell carcinoma
develop in squamous cell epithelium of organs (eg. skin, bladder, lungs)
dysplasia
presence of abnormal cells within a tissue
hyperplasia
enlargement of an organ or tissue caused by an increase in reproduction rate of its cells
