What is a Constitutional Monarchy?
A Constitutional Monarchy is a country that recognizes a royal family or a monarch as “head of state”.
Who is the head of the Canadian Government?
The Queen (Queen Elizabeth II).
Who acts as her representation at the federal level? At the provincial level?
She is represented at the federal level by the governor general (David Johnson). She is represented at the provincial level by the lieutenant governor.
The federal parliament consists of what three entities?
1) Elected Lower House (commons)
2) Appointed Upper House (senate)
3) Executive Branch (prime minister, cabinet, governor general)
How is the Senate different from the House of Commons?
The Senate is different from the House of Commons because for the House of Commons you have to be elected in by the people, and for the Senate you have to be appointed by the Prime Minister.
What’s a senator’s role?
To look over laws that the House of Commons have passed along. Making sure they are written okay.

Redistribution of wealth. Provides services we want.
What is equalization?
The transfer of money from wealthy provinces to not wealthy provinces to maintain provincial services.
