Effect of Fading
This is used to indicate the end of a scene or to suggest the passage of time.
What is fading?
The shot fades into or out of blackness
Effect of dissolve?
Suggests a close relationship between the scenes that dissolve into each other. Indicate flashbacks,dreams and even thoughts.
What is a dissolve?
This occurs when one frame fades out and is gradually replaced by another so that at the midpoint of the dissolve, both frames can be seen in the screen.
Effect of zoom?
Drawing attention to detail
What is zoom?
Depth and focus from long shots to close up shots
Effects of panning?
May create a feeling of space and vastness
What is panning?
The camera, mounted on a fixed points, moves horizontally from side to side
Effects of tracking?
Involves audience in action
What is tracking?
The camera moves with the actors or action. Subject always in view
Effect of tilt?
Emphasizes speed or size of an object.
May create a feeling of tension or imbalance for viewer.
What is tilt?
Camera tilts up and down vertically from a fixed position.
