What is the definition of a close up shot?
This shows very litte background, and concentrates on a face, or a specific detail.

This shot is used to show the importance of details, show character emotions, heighten tension & magnify objects.
What is the definition of an extreme close up shot?
A shot in which small portions of a subject are magnified on the screen. (ex: a character’s eyes)
What is the purpose of an extreme close up shot?
This shot builds intensity and allows the audience to get up close and personal with the subject, revealing details that may have been previously missed.

This shot contains a figure from the knees/waist up.

This shot is used to show minimal background detail and characters whilst presenting them within the cinematic world, usually focusing on character dialogue and interaction.

(The long shot category also encompasses the full-shot.) This shot shows the entire human body, with the head near the top of the frame and feet near the bottom.

The over the shoulder shot is a shot in which the camera is placed just behind an “off-screen” actor so that their shoulder is in the frame while you capture the “on-screen” actor’s coverage.

This shot is shooting from above, with the camera placed higher than subjects.
What is the purpose of a high angle shot?
