Low angle
-used to make a subject more powerful – hero or villains, can be subtle
High angle
- heightens imbalance of characters, used to diminish the character, makes them weak
- aerial shot of cities, larger worlds
Overhead shot
great for showcasing movement, crime scenes
Dutch angle
skews horizontal axis of the frame, creates uneasy sense, terror, bewilderment, intensifies characters, tension
Eye level shot
commonly used, natural height to regard a character, it is engaging
Shoulder level
second most common, used in conversation, emphases height difference, highlights an affectionate glance
Hip level
found in every genre, but most in old town country movies, hip level-to-eye makes scene intense
Knee level
camera placed at subject’s knee height, tracts through an environment
Ground level shot
all the way down on the ground, slightly below ground, doubles low angles, stylish way to tract a character’s movement, full of dynamic movement, intrigues audience
