What is a Low Angle shot (LA) ?
A
- Shot from a camera positioned low on the vertical axis, anywhere below the eye line, looking up.
- Psychologically, it makes the subject look strong and powerful.
- Typically used in a scene when a person or multiple people are looking down upon someone or something.
- It makes the audience feel smaller than the people in the scene.

What is a High Angle Shot (HA) ?
A
- Shot from a camera positioned high on the vertical axis
- It makes the subject seem vulnerable or frightened/weakwhen.
- It creates a sense of feeling small and powerless.
- Usually used when something bad happens to the main character.

What is an Establishing shot/extreme long shot (ES), (ELS) ?
A
- Usually the first shot of a new scene
- Designed to show the audience where the action is taking place, the setting and everything involved in it.
- This maybe taken from a great distance.
- Emphasizing atmosphere.
- Generally reserved for outdoor settings.

What is a Long Shot (LS) ?
A
- Shot where we see entirely the subject from head to toes.
- Also called wide shot or full shot.
- It tends to include the subject and very little else.
- Usually one person in the shot and usually facing the camera to show his stance or expression.
- Sometimes it makes the character seem ‘smaller’ because of the desperate situation he is in.

What is a Medium long shot (MLS) ?
A
- Also known as a three-quarters shot.
- Frames the whole subject from the knees up.
- An intermediate shot between the long shot and the medium shot.
- Shows the subject in relation to the surroundings.
- May be used when you have 2 or 3 persons in the frame.
- You can see someone’s expression and half of the body so it shows the characters emotion and expression while still showing most of the body language as well.

What is a Medium Close Up (MCU)
A
- The medium close up is half way between a medium shot and a close up.
- It shows the face more clearly, without getting uncomfortably close.
- It provides more focus on the facial expression and draws audience attention to the character/characters in the frame.

What is a negative space
A
It’s the space around and between the subject of an image. Sometimes it forms an interesting or artistically relevant shape, and such space occasionally is used to artistic effect as the “real” subject of an image.
