A
Sudden onset Severe colicky pain Radiates to iliac fossa, labia, testicle, penis Unilateral Associated with N and V

A
Urinalysis - if no blood, not stones Baseline obs (temperature!!) Check tenderness in iliac fossa and flanks FBC Us and Es Urine MCS CTKUB

Significance of fever and renal colic
A
Infection and stone is urological emergency
May have pyonephrosis
Call seniors!

Management of renal colic
A
Analgesia - diclofenac first line
Antiemetics if needed
IV fluids if dehydrated
Either surgery or recheck stone has passed spontaneously in 2-3 weeks
