A

Opposes action of high serum Potassium on the myocardium.
Onset: IV: Several minutes
Duration: 30 - 90 minutes

A
  1. Emergency treatment of Hyperkalaemia
  2. Prolonged hypotension, post Magnesium
    administration, unresponsive to fluid

ADVERSE EFFECTS:

A

Rare with nominated use

  1. Tissue necrosis if extravasates from vein
  2. Precipitates out in contact with Bicarbonate
