Who were the parents of Cain & Abel?
Adam & Eve

- Cain was the first born
- bad tempered
- a crop farmer
- very half hearted towards God
- it was his attitude towards God that was not accepted
Who was younger and his characterstics?
- Abel was the youngest
- a shepherd an
- he had a good attitude towards God and so was accepted
What did Cain give God as his sacrifice?
his crop
What did Abel give God as his sacrifice?
- his firstborn and the best of his flock of sheep
Why did God reject Cain’s sacrifice?
God looked into Cain’s heart (God is all knowing) and how he really felt about giving God his sacrifice and saw all was not well
- Cain was driven by sin and anger. God warned him to work on this
Why did Cain kill Abel?
- Cain was always envious of Abel because he thought he had an easier job (as in the bible the job of the shepherd was often given to the person favoured by God)
- he now become jealous and angry as God rejected his sacrifice and accepting Abel’s
Consequence of giving in to sin?
- Cain gave into sin of jealousy then anger
- then murder as Cain used his free will to reject God/s
advice - this led to consequences and a terrible punishment for
Cain
What happened to Cain after he killed Abel?
- Cain lied to God when asked where Abel was
- but God knew what had happened (as God is all
knowing) - as there was blood crying out from the ground
- God said that an innocent man had suffered and lost his
life (blood = life)
What was Gods judgement to Cain?
- God still loved Cain even though Cain had sinned
What does God expect from us today?
God wants us to make our best possible effort
What was Gods punishment /curse to Cain?
- he told him that when you farm the land, it will not give you any food.
- you will be a (drifte)on the earth
How did Cain react to Gods punishment and what did God do after that?
- cain was afraid that someone would kill him when they knew who he was (he was selfish as he had just killed his brother but was afraid to be killed)
- God said if someone kills Cain, God would take vengeance 7 times on that person.
- God put a mark on Cain so no one would kill him
What happened next to Nod?
- he married and . had a son named Enoch
- ## they built a city and called it Enoch after his son
What do we learn from Cain & Abel’s story?
- Jealousy (spoils our relationship with others)
- Consequence of Giving in to temptation (one bad thing
leads to even worse things) - Punishment & Forgiveness (can we have both?)
- should we give people a chance to make up for the
wrong they have done
