Tragic hero
A character who makes an error in judgement or has a fatal flaw, but is still able to elicit sympathy.
Tragic flaw
A weakness that is the reason for the characters downfall such as pride jealousy or arrogamce.
Humartia
A bad decision due to poor reasoning or external circumstances usually with good intentions
Catastrophe
Catastrophe the final action that completes the unraveling of the plot of the play.
Catharsis
The purging of emotions -pity or fear- the audience feels compassion for the protagonist the reader is sad but will have hope for mankind

Major division of a play upper case Roman numeral
Scene
A subdivision of a play involve a setting change. Lower case roman numeral
Line
The individuals line in a play- represented by numbers
Comic relief
A bit of humor following a tragedy meant to lighten the mood
Pun
Pun-a play on words that is humorous by using a word that has two or more meanings.
Monologue
A character gives an extended speech to give his thoughts addressing the audience
Soliloquy
A speech where a character reveals his inner most thoughts while talking to himself -no one else is on the stage/ not intended for anyone to hear . Used to reveal plot dramatic irony.
Aside
Word spoken by a character not meant for all the characters to hear -sometimes said to another character or to the audience.
In media
starting in the middle of the action-saves a lot of time for the writer.
Tragedy
A drama when there is a noble main character who has a flaw and makes choices that lead to their demise. Ends in death and chaos. The protagonist admits his mistakes and fights for what they think is a bigger cause.
