Cables, etc. Flashcards
What is the pinout for a crossover cable?
1 to 3, 2 to 6, 3 to 1, 6 to 2
TIA/EIA 568 crossed wiring: 1 - 3 2 - 6 3 - 1 4 - 7 5 - 8 6 - 2 7 - 4 8 - 5
What type of cable would you use to connect a PC to a router’s ethernet port?
Crossover
What is the 568A color coding standard? 568B?
568A:
GW, G, OW, Bl, BlW, O, BrW, Br
568B:
Orange-white, orange, green-white, blue, blue-white, green, brown-white, brown.
What is the pinout for a 568A to 568B cable? What is this type of cable called? What devices can it connect?
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
3 6 1 4 5 2 7 8
Or
1-3, 2-6, 3-1, 4-4, 5-5, 6-2, 7-7, 8-8
568A to 568B (or vice versa) is a crossover cable, which can be used to connect similar devices. The only exception to this rule is that a PC to router ethernet port also requires a crossover cable.

What type of cable is a 568B to 568B (mirrored)? What’s the pinout? What devices would you use this cable to connect?
A rollover (rolled) cable:
GW, G, OW, Bl, BlW, O, BrW, Br

Br BrW O BlW Bl OW G GW
You can use a rollover cable to connect a PC to a router’s console port.
