Can a Captain depart knowing a crew member will exceed their requirement or flight time limitation?
NO
What is the cut off time limitation regarding Tarmac Delays both Domestic and International?
3 hours of Domestic
4 hours of International
When must you make sure food and water services are provided during a Tarmac Delay?
Prior reaching 2 hours
When does the clock start for On-Gate Tarmac Delays?
Scheduled departure time
When does the clock start for Off-Gate Tarmac Delays?
Boarding door is closed or upon touchdown for arrival delays
CA Fuel Check (Six Steps)
Once OFP is received and fueled
- Init B Fuel in MCDU (+/-300lbs)
- Check Landing Fuel Requirements in MCDU (Winds/Altitudes/SOP)
- Fuel ECAM (No X’s and Balanced)
- Upper ECAM (No RefuelG)
- Fuel Pumps ON
- Seat Belt Signs ON
AIR COND Pack Flow to conserve fuel:

Emergency Depressurization Descent Maximizing Range or Clearing Terrain
- Emergency Descent Procedure
- Start Time
- Initiate Descent to FL180 limited to 12 min
- Establish Descent to 14,000 and limited to 30 min
- Continue Descent to 10,000 and use Vertical Speed no greater than 500fpm
Can you initiate a flight with no previous or spare logbooks?
Yes, as long as you verify the AC airworthiness
When is an AC airworthiness release required?
- After a scheduled check
- After any ferry or post maintenance verification flight
- After an AC is weighed
At what speed does anti-skid activate and why be mindful of it?
20 knots and above, on contaminated taxiways use caution while taxiing as the aircraft could skid while making turns or into another aircraft ahead
Can you take off with PWS alert before and during take off roll?
Before T/O Roll the Captain must delay the TO.
During T/O Roll the Captain should abort but is not required depending on the assessment of the situation
What is procedurally different following a Reactive Windshear Alert on takeoff versus approach?
On Approach, you can change configuration provided you are not in actual Windshear. On T/O you cannot change configuration period
Which CB cannot be reset on the ground?
Fuel Pump CB’s
Can you depart before D-10?
No, unless you coordinate with dispatch.
If given a reroute, how can you identify if you’re 100 miles laterally?
- Copy primary route on secondary FLT PLAN PAGE
- Put new route in primary FLT PLAN
- Go to Plan View on MFD and compare them against each other
When do you need an amendedment?
- Gate Return
- Aircraft doesn’t move within 2 hours of the OFP ETD/6 hours of arrival at an INT airport
- Adding, deleting, or changing alternate
- Any Increase RQD TO fuel
- Actual TO weight is greater than planned TO weight plus 2,000 lbs
- Addition or removal of an MEL/CDL
- Change of flight plan greater than 100 NM laterally and/or total distance
- Changed filed altitude by 4,000 and more
- Change of destination
