C7-rates of Reaction &energy Change Flashcards
What is a exothermic reaction
An exothermic reaction gives out energy to the surrounding usually in the form of heat and usually shown by the rise of temperature of the surrounding
Whats is an endothermic reaction
Takes in energy from the surroundings usually in the form of heat and usually shown by a fall om temperature of the surrounding
What must energy be supplied to break existing bonds and by what process?
Energy must be supplied to break exsting bonds so bond breaking is an endothermic process
What must be released when new bonds are formed and by what process?
Energy is realeased when new bonds are formed so bond formation is an exothermic process
The higher the temperature the faster the rate of reaction will be.why ?
This is because particles have more energy so can move around faster leading to more successful to frequent collisions
What is activation energy
Muimum energy required for a reaction to occur
