Drugs – chemicals such as paints and dies – chemicals used in industries e.g. acids and alkalis – chemicals used in the Home e.g bleach and toiletries
How do some chemical stay in the environment for a long time?
Chemicals such as pesticides are sprayed onto crops to kill the creatures that damage them I also tend to be toxic to create that aren’t pests and there is a danger of these poisons passing on for the food chains of animals
Explain a food chain where toxic chemicals have built up?
Insecticides seep into the river – small water plants take up a little insecticide – each little tiny animal eats lots of small plants – small fish eats a lots of tiny animals – each small fish eats alot of small fish – each otter eats a lot of eels
How can plasticisers Harm the environment?
Pvc is a very common polymer that contains carbon, Hydrogen and chlorine. Plasticisers called pcbs used to make PVC that had more heat and fire resistance for use in electrical wiring pCBs cant leak out of the plastic and into the water sources and the same way as pesticides and I came in like the animal like fish and end up being eaten by humans
What is an alkali?
And alkali is a compound that forms a hydroxide ions when dissolved in water
