Q

What is the Relative Formula Mass Mr?

A

• The relative formula mass is (Mr) of a compound is the sum of the relative atomic masses of all the atoms present in the formula.
• For example, calculate the relative formula mass of H2SO4
H = 1 2 x 1 = 2
S = 32 1 x 32 = 32
O = 16 4 x 16 = 64
Mr = 98

Q

Describe the continuous process.

A
  • Reactants are continually fed into the reactor as the products are removed
  • The production of ammonia in the Haber process and sulfuric acid in the Contact process are made in this way.
  • Makes product on a large scale
  • Are dedicated to making just one product
  • Operate all the time
  • Can run automatically
