2
Q

How did Mendeleev order his periodic table

A

He organised the elements into vertical columns based on their properties. Then arranged them horizontally in order of increasing atomic weight.

3
Q

Why were there gaps in Mendeleevs periodic table

A

-Some elements didn’t fit the pattern horizontally
-he didn’t want to force the elements into the pattern so he left gaps

Properties of the halogens

A

-At room temp halogens exist at different states and colours
-the melting and boiling points of the halogens increase as you go down the group
