Determinism
The idea that everything that happens has a cause, or determinant, that one could observe or measure
Psychology
The systematic study of behavior and experience
Free Will
The belief that behavior is caused by a persons independent decisions is known as free will
The Mind-Brain problem
The philosophical question of how experience relates to the brain. Two main views are dualism and monism.
Dualism
One view of the mind brain problem that says that the mind is separate from the brain but somehow controls the brain and therefore the rest of the body
Monism
One view of the mind brain problem that says that the conscious experience is inseparable from the physical brain. Most people favor monism over dualism.
