16
Q

Why does chlorine not have a whole mass number?

A

This is because chlorine has two isotopes, Chlorine - 35 and Chlorine - 37

17
Q

How did the evidence from scattering experiments change the model of the atom?

A

The results from the alpha scattering experiment led to the conclusion that the mass of an atom was concentrated at the centre (nucleus) and that the nucleus was charged.

18
Q

Why can we be confident that there are no unknown elemtns within the fidt ten element of the periodic table?

A

Because they have 1-10 protons and protons cannot be split

19
Q

What is the relative size of the atom and it’s nucleus?

A

The atom is 10,000 times larger than it’s nucleus
