C/T Spine Flashcards
Fuch’s Method Structures Shown
Dens lying within the circular foramen magnum
If upper incisors are projected over the dens in AP Open Mouth, how do you correct this?
Tilt head up
If base if the skull is projected over the dens in AP Open Mouth, how do you correct this?
Tilt head down
Where is the IR centered for the Lateral C-Spine?
At the level of the atlantoaxial articulation, 1 inch distal to the tip of the mastoid process
Where does the CR enter for a Lateral C-Spine?
Perpendicular to a point 1 inch distal to the mastoid tip (C1)
What level do you center the IR at for an AP Axial Projection of the C-Spine?
C4
Where does the CR enter for an AP Axial C-Spine?
C4 at an angle of 15-20 degrees cephalad (slightly inferior to the thyroid cartilage)
In Hyperflexion (Lateral), the spinous processes are
Elevated and widely separated
In Hyperextension (Lateral), the spinous processes are
Depressed in close approximation
Where is the IR centered for Hyperflexion/Hyperextension Lateral?
At the level of C4
Where is the TOP OF THE IR centered for Hyperflexion/Hyperextension Lateral?
2in. above the EAM
Where does the CR enter for Hyperflexion/Hyperextension Lateral?
Perpendicular and Horizontal to C4
Why use Obliques in C-Spine?
To see Intervertebral Foramina
In a PA Axial Oblique, you will see intervertebral foramina
Closest to the IR
In a AP Axial Oblique, you will see intervertebral foramina
Farthest from the IR
