Marine Expeditionary Force

A
The MEF is the Marine Corps’ principal warfighting organization. It is capable of conducting and sustaining expeditionary operations in any geographic environment. MEFs are the sole “standing MAGTFs” (i.e., they exist in peacetime as well as wartime). The size and composition of a MEF can vary greatly depending on the requirements of the mission. A MEF is normally commanded by a lieutenant general. It can be composed of—
•A standing command element.
•A GCE of one or more divisions.
•An ACE of one or more aircraft wings.
•A LCE of one or more logistics groups.
