Essential Bus - 24V min.
Main Batt - 0
Standby Batt - Discharging
OIL PRESS + STBY BATT + LOW VACUUM + WARNING - Annunciators illuminated
Startup - Engine cold
(Oil temp below green arc)
AUX FUEL PUMP - ON
MIXTURE - RICH
FUEL FLOW - STEADY
MIXTURE - CUT OFF
AUX FUEL PUMP - OFF
… wait 15-20 sec - clear surroundings (left-forward-right-rear)
MAGNETOS - START (max 10 sec, 20 sec cooldown, max 3 cycles, then 10 min cooldown)
MIXTURE - RICH
THROTTLE - 1200RPM
OIL PRESS - GREEN (within 30-60 sec)
M BATT + S BATT - POSITIVE CHARGE
M + E BUS - ca. 28V
LOW VOLTS - EXTINGUISHED
Throttle 1200RPM lean mixture for max. RPM, set throttle at 1000RPM when holding on ground.
Startup - Engine warm

what do you check?
Before taxi: 1
- MFD powers up
- AFCS in red letters on PFD - extinguished after a few sec
- 3x aural alert buzzer
- TAWS TEST on PFD - TAWS TEST OK aural alert
- Confirm nav database is current on MFD
- Set transponder code according to clearance
Speed bugs and fuel quantity
Before taxi: 2
Set heading bug to RWY HDG
Set altitude bug to expected climb altitude
Set/check speed bugs (TIM/REF on PFD)
- Vy 80kts
- Vglide - set according to M&B calculations
- Vx 65kts
- Vr 59kts (normal takeoff - 55kts short field takeoff)
Set/check fuel totalizer (ENGINE - SYSTEM) - varify with values from preflight
Taxi - check
- Brakes - gently tap brakes to verify operation
- Flight instruments
Turning LEFT:
- Turn indicator - LEFT BANK
- Ball - RIGHT
- Compasses - DECREASING
- Attitudes - STEADY (< 5 deg. bank)
Turning RIGHT:
- Turn indicator - RIGHT BANK
- Ball - LEFT
- Compasses - INCREASING
- Attitudes - STEADY (< 5 deg. bank)
Autopilot and FD check
Before takeoff: 3
- Center HDG bug (press)
- Press HDG button - verify HDG/PITCH on AFCS status box + FD visible on PFD
- Press AP button - verify AP engaged on AFCS status box
- Twist HDG bug slightly left and then slightly right - watch yoke turning accordingly
- Disconnect AP with AP TRIM DISC button. Press on yoke - verify aural alert and yellow AP annunc. in AFCS status box
- Press FD button - verify FD OFF on PFD and AFCS status box
- Reset HDG bug to RWY HDG
Run-up
THROTTLE - 1800RPM
MAGNETOS - RIGHT, BOTH, LEFT, BOTH (drop < 175, max 50 diff)
PROP CONTROL - PULL SMOOTHLY UNTIL RPM DROP - THEN PUSH IN
- Repeat 3 times in case it is the first flight of the day
VERIFY - MP increase, RPM decrease - return to 1800, Oil Press decrease
Check for oil spill on cowling and windscreen
ENGINE INDICATORS - NORMAL VALUES, no annunc. illuminated
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - M BUS + E BUS ca. 28V, M BATT + S BATT 0/positive charge
Press ENGINE - SYSTEM on MFD, verify VAC in green range - then BACK
THROTTLE - IDLE (smooth running at ca. 650RPM - return to 1000RPM)
MIXTURE - LEAN until a slight increase in RPM is audible
Before takeoff check - after the line
LINE-UP CHECKS
LANDING LIGHTS - ON WHEN CLEARANCE RECEIVED
STROBE LIGHT - ON
PITOT HEAT - ON
MIXTURE - RICH
AUTOPILOT - OFF
HDG AND COMPASS - CHECKED (verify with RWY HDG when lined up)
Climb check
after passing 300’ AGL
FLAPS - UP
CLIMB POWER - SET (23” 2400RPM 15GPH)
COWL FLAPS - AS REQUIRED
LANDING LIGHTS - OFF (set to RECOG TAXI)

after leveling off
ENGINE INSTRUMENS - CHECK (MP 23”, RPM 2400, FF 15GPH, OIL PRESS/TEMP + CHT green, EGT + Fuel quantity sensible)

Cruise
POWER - 20” MP, 2200RPM, FFLOW 11,5 (below “W”)
COWL FLAPS - AS REQUIRED (normally CLOSED at this stage)
Descent check - approach briefing includes
- Set COM frequencies to be used and next freq. in standby
- set NAV frequencies and identify navaids
- set DME, CDI and BRG pointers as required
- Check that appropriate approach briefing is given (IFR) explain expected approach - often joining a pattern for landing, or straight in approach in VFR
Approach check
ALTIMETERS - SET
FLAPS - APPROACH (standard is 10)
MIXTURE - RICH
COWL FLAPS - OPEN
CABIN POWER 12W - OFF
AUTOPILOT - OFF
When landing clearance is received:
LANDING LIGHTS - ON
After landing check
STROBE LIGHT - OFF
PITOT HEAT - OFF
TAXI LIGHTS - ON (set landing lights to RECOG TAXI)
MIXTURE - LEAN (for slight increase in rpm, set throttle to 1000rpm when holding)
FLAPS - UP
COWL FLAPS - OPEN
