I have one female patient who appears unresponsive, I’m going to check now

Hey ma’am can you hear me (sternum rub)

Patient is apneic and has a weak pulse

Head tilt chin lift

The mouth is full of vomitus

I’m going to take a Yonker
Turn on the device
Kink the tube to insert without suction
Suction side to side for no more than 10-15

Question 5

The secretions are gone

Answer 5

I will now remove the device while still suctioning
Do another head tilt chin lift
Insert the OPA
Apply bvm to the mouth with an EC grib
And do my first breath within 30 seconds of removing suction

I’m going to ventilate 1 breath every 5-6 seconds or 10-12 breaths a minute
I’ll know I’m ventilating correctly when I see a bilateral chest rise and fall

I will instruct my partner to check for a pulse and attach oxygen to the bvm at 15 LPM
