Buttons And Switches Flashcards
What connect the DC service bus to the APU battery direct bus?
DC service switch
What happens when you turn the battery master on?
Connect / disconnects APU and main battery direct busses to battery busses
AC button
Selects AC Power
What does the green AVAIL light mean?
External Electrical power is available and ready to use. Correct phase voltage and frequency.
What does the IN USE light mean on the AC power button?
External power is supplying power to the AC busses
What happens when you push the IDG 1 or 2 switch lights?
The respective IDG is separated from the accessory gearbox. The white IDG light will illuminate.
What does illumination of the Amber fault light mean on the IDG switch light?
High oil temperature or low oil pressure is detected in the IDG. (HOT LOP)
What happens when you press the AC ESS XFER button?
It illuminates and manually transfers the AC ESS BUS from AC BUSS 1 to AC BUSS 2.
Will the AC ESS XFER automatically transfer?
Yes, if a fault is detected on AC BUS 1 it will automatically transfer illumination of the switch light.
What do the GEN switches in AUTO do?
Connect the respective generator to its appropriate BUS provided the generator is functioning properly
What does GEN switch in OFF / RESET do?
Disconnects the generator from its bus and rearms the generator control circuit
Auto transfer buttons on the IDG panel?
Disables automatic transfer of associated IDG
Amber AUTO XFER Fail light?
Fault or overcurrent situation has occurred and respective BUS has been isolated preventing auto transfer.
Left and Right Hydraulic Shutoff buttons?
Manually closes the hydraulic shutoff valves. Isolates the engine driven pump from the associated hydraulic reservoir. The white light indicates SOV Closed.
Hydraulic switches in AUTO Mode?
Automatically operates the pump when any generator online and the Flaps greater than zero
At what psi do the hydraulic pumps operate?
3000 psi
What kind of hydraulic fluid do we use?
Skydrol (purple color)
If hydraulic pump 1A or 2 A fails, will the respective electric pump activate automatically?
No
Which hydraulic systems are actively cooled?
Hydraulic systems 1 and 2
If there is an engine driven hydraulic pump problem , 1A or 2A , is the associated engine required to be shut down?
No, a shutoff valve is positioned between the pump and the reservoir to isolate the pump from the system
What do the left or right engine START push buttons do?
Starts / Stops the engine start sequence
What does the CONT Ignition switch light do?
Selects continuous ignition of both igniters on both engines . Both A and B igniters fire continuously. The switch light will illuminate.
When will the CONT switch light illuminate and the igniters fire automatically?
FADEC senses a flameout
Just prior to stickshaker during a stall
Airflow is disrupted thru the engine
What does the APU PWR FUEL button do when pressed?
APU fuel pump is energized
ECU powers up
An APU IN BITE status message appears on ED 2
APU RPM and EGT gauges appear on ED 2
The door opens when on the ground
The APU fuel shutoff valve opens
What does the APU PWR FUEL button do? (Short answer)
Energizes APU fuel pump and opens APU fuel shutoff valve. Accompanied by APU IN BITE message?
APU START STOP switch pushed in?
In flight the APU door with modulate open as needed
The Starter motor is energized
The White start light illuminates
At 46 to 60 % RPM the START light extinguishes
At 99% RPM + two seconds the green AVAIL light illuminates
APU Start/Stop switch pushed out?
Fuel shutoff valve closes
The APU shuts down
The green AVAIL light extinguishes
The inlet door closes
APU START/ STOP button? (Short answer)
1st push. Starts motor
2nd push. 1. Closes fuel shut off valve
2. Extinguishes AVAIL light
3. Closes air inlet door
What is the primary purpose of the APU?
Provide electrical power
