An organisation which represents the interests of its members in their dealings with employers

Define the term “Span of Control”
The number of people someone in a business is directly responsible for
Suggest three pieces of information you would expect to see in a job description
Job title / example of job title, Pay and hours worked
What are “statutory deductions” and give 2 examples.
Mandatory deductions that are automatically taken from your pay. E.g. Income Tax / National Insurance Contribution
What does “PAYE” mean?
Pay As You Earn
What is a person specification?
A profile of a person suited for a job / the type of person an employer is looking for.
State three ways a business could improve the performance of its workers
Higher pay to encourage workers / bonuses or commission / fringe benefits / promotions / training / pension schemes
What is an “Organisation Chart”?
A diagram which shows the internal structure of a business
Describe what is meant by “Democratic Leadership”
A type of leadership where employees are consulted on business decisions
