A

Batch production is when quantities of similar products are made. Machines can be easily changed to make a different batch. This is the production method that is used when a business wants to make a range of similar items, e.g. shoes

What is Flow Production?

A

Flow Production is when products are made in huge quantities such as cola. These are made in a continous line in a factory (very capital intensive process)

Advantages of Job Production?

A

It can be satisfying for the producer and for the customer when their individual and unique item is made
Often bespoke items such can be exactly what the customer requires
“One-off” items can be charged at higher prices which can lead to higher profit

Requires skilled workers
Very time-consuming as products are usually very detailed and individual
If demand is high, it is hard to speed up production

A

Much less labout is involved compared to Job Production where machines can be used
Employees specialise in making the products, therefore they become good at their job
Production can be changed in order to meet customer needs or demands (flexible)

Road blocks, if one batch takes long, other batches get held up

Parts and materials don’t need to be stored or held for future batches
Automated products means time production is quick
