Examples of the business case being useful

A

Different industries, countries and different dimensions of CSR all suggest a link can be made between CSR and financial performance
VW: failed emissions tests caused drop in sales in 11 years in 2016 (trotman, 2016)
BP met its targets for greenhouse emissions at twice the rate specified - the company operationally saved 250m dollars
