- Saone & Loire, 71, southern part stretched from the bank of the Loire West to the foothills of the Jura West, Macon as capital

Each terroir is different and can vary from a village to the next one. Clay-limestone tend to dominate though

- Continental, Mediterranean and oceanic influences
- Temperate in average
- Hotter and dryer climate in the Southeast Part of the Region (Maconnais)
- More semi-continental in the Chablis and Grand auxerrois region, wetter and more susceptible to springtime frosts.

What is a Climat in Burgundy ?
A
- A delimited plot of Land with specific geological and climate conditions, combine with a grape variety and a know how. Its the name for a specific vineyard and there is about 1 000 different of them.
- Some Climats were first referenced as far back as the 7th century, such as Clos de Bèze in Gevrey.
- Lieu-dit is also a plot of land but not registered by the INAO. Some producers add it to the appelation
