Absolute Location
The exact location using latitude and longitude or an address.
Relative Location
Where something is in relation to other things. For example ¨the football field is across the street from the school¨. Or, I live a block from the Shirt Stop¨.
Atlas
Book of maps.
Political Maps
Shows the borders of continents, states, countries, and cities.
Physical Maps
Shows locations of landforms, bodies of water and other geographical features.
Resource Maps
Shows the products and natural resources of an area.
Road/Mobility Map
Shows streets, roads, highways, etc.
Contour/Topographic Map
Shows elevation (height) of an area.
Maps
Flat models of Earth or a part of the Earth.
Map Key or Legend
Part of a map that lists and explains the symbols used.
Scale
Shows how the distance on a map compares to the distance on Earth.
Landforms
Natural features on the Earth.
Population Density
Number of people in a certain geographic area.
Natural Resources
Material found in nature, and used by people such as minerals, trees, water, fertile soil and fossil fuels.
Geography
The study of physical features on Earth.
