Solicit
Verb.
To ask for or try to obtain.
I had to solicit money while fundraising in order to go on my school field trip.
Foray
Noun.
Initial attempt
During my first foray at the sport of gymnastics I was very inexperienced.
Cite
Verb.
To quote (a passage, book, article etc.) as support or proof of an argument; to give credit to the source.
In my bibliography I had to cite each website I had used for my research.
Direct quotation
Noun phrase.
When you copy an authors words verbatim and use the exact wording in your writing.
I had to use direct quotation for my homework because our answers had to be correct word for word.
Punctuation
Noun. The marks (such as periods and comas) in a piece of writing that make its meaning. The author correctly used punctuation by adding an exclamation point when saying "There's a fire, everyone evacuate!"
