Structural member or reinforced concrete, placed horizontally over openings to carry loads.
Concrete Beam/ Biga
Type of sheet iron or steel strengthened for use of constructions by having a series of alternating grooves and ridges forced into it, usually galvanized for weather resistance.
Corrugated G.I. Sheets/ Hiero Canalado Galbanisado
Staircase string whose upper edge is straight and parallel to its lower edge; the thread and riser ends are housed in the face of the string and are concealed.
Closed Stringer/ Escalera
Angular rock. Form of construction aggregate, typically produces by mining a suitable rock deposit and breaking the removed rock down to the desired size using crushers.
Crushed Stone/ Eskombro
Thin narrow boards used to ceil with.
Ceiling Board/ Kostilyahe
The bolt at the lower end of the chain plate, which fastens it to the vessel’s side. A bolt with a chain attached for drawing it out of position.
Chain Bolt/ Bakal de Kadena
Composed of Earth’s natural material that can be placed and compacted by construction equipment operated in a conventional manner.
Earthfill/ Eskombro
Material used to surface the exterior of a building to protect against exposure to the elements, prevent heat loss, and visually unify the façade.
Exterior Siding/ Tabike
The horizontal exterior roof overhang.
Eave/ Alero
Horizontal boards attached to rafter/ truss ends at the eaves and along gables. Roof drain gutters are attached to the fascia.
Fascia Board/ Senepa
Volume of earthen materials that is placed and compacted for the purpose of filling the hole or ground depression. Usually composed of soil, also aggregate, rock, or crushed paving material.
Fill/ Tambak
Composition of a semi-solid which hardens on drying. Fills pores, holes, and cracks, in wood, plaster, or other construction surfaces before finishing.
Filler/ Tapal o Dagdag
Narrow band with a vertical face. Often interposed as rectangular or square ribbon-like bands between curved moldings/ ornaments. May also be found between the flutings of columns.
Fillet/ Batidora
Open able barrier or as a framework of wood, steel, aluminum, glass, or a combination of these materials in a wall opening.
Door/ Pinto
Surrounding case into which and out of a door closes and opens. Consists of two upright pieces, side jambs, and a horizontal head jamb. These three jambs have the “door stop” installed on them.
