Pre-1918 Industrial Buildings
A
Walls:
- Brick was the primary material, often left unlined.
- Wall thickness: 9 inches (228mm) for small buildings, 18 inches (456mm) or more for larger buildings.
Roofs:
- Originally slate or tile, supported by timber frameworks (rafters, purlins, beams, trusses).
- Many original roofs replaced by sheet materials over time, altering appearance.
