What is the single sacred text?
Unlike many religions, Buddhism has no single central text that is universally referred to by all traditions.
Ascetic
someone who deprives themselves of comforts in the hope of gaining spiritual insight
Bodhisattva
one who can reach nirvana but delays it for the sake of others

the three ‘baskets’ or three categories of Buddhist sacred texts
