someone who helps people reach enlightment and is able to reach nirvana but delays it and reborn to help others
what is the difference between arhat and Bodhisattva?
arhats focus on themselves and bodhisattvas focuses on others
what is Theravada Buddhism?
-monks
-doesn’t consider Buddha to be a god
-devote full life to following enlightenment
what is Mahayana Buddhism?
-most Buddhists in the world
-suyana is an important concept
-believe Buddha is a historical figure
what is pure land Buddhism?
-pure land created by amitabha
-believe if they are reborn into this land they will have better chance of enlightenment
-encourages believers to follow 5 religious practices
