What is the Health-Belief Model?
This model believes people make behavioral changes based on thier belief in a personal threat combined with their belief in the effectiveness of the proposed behavioral change.
Example:
A person will change if they believe eating fast food will kill them and exercise is an effective solution.
What is the social cognitive theory?
This theory believes people will make behavioral changes when the observe and learn from others actions.
Example:
If I see my friend exercising and not eating fast food, I may change my behavior.
What is the transtheoretical model?
This model believes people make behavior changes based on a series of steps or stages. They include precontemplatoin, contemplatoin, preparation, action, maintenance).
Example:
I will quite eating fast food when I:
1) think about not eating then
2) Prepare not to eat - start to exercise, switch to other foods.
3) Actually not eat fast food
4) Contineu to avoid fast food
What is the Applied Behavior Analytic Theory?
This theory believes people make behavioral changes based on positive and negative consequences of action.
Example:
I will not eat fast food because it makes me feel sick when I eat it.
