BSA TTPs Flashcards
What is the PUAC Cue?
The Pull Up Anticipation Cue. It advises you that you are approaching min TOF for you bomb and the AD you set.
What is the delay cue?
When the CCIP pipper is positioned more than 14 degrees below the boresight cross. A time delay is calculated based on the difference between the pipper position and the actual impact point
What types of ranging can you have when in CCIP?
What is an arming delay
It sets the time for the bomb to arm prior to impact. It allows for enough separation from you and the bomb if it goes off at the AD
What happens after you reach the PUAC cue?
LOW will be displayed next to the PUAC cue and the PUAC cue will reset down your bomb fall line and resets to provide ground clobber information
What does a LOW flashing next to the FPM mean?
That the TOF of the last weapon in the ripple is calculated to be less than your set AD
What is a CAT 1 fuze?
An impact fuze
What is a CAT 2 fuze?
Proximity fuze
What is a CAT 3 fuze?
A timed fuze
What does a safe escape maneuver do for you?
It allows you to get out of the frag envelope of weapons dropped before the weapons detonate
Planned spacing between each jet in the BSA pattern?
1.5-2.0 NM
Do you adjust your base leg position to adjust pattern spacing?
No, always turn base at the proper position. Plan to go through dry if too close. Adjust spacing on downwind
What are the most important factors at base?
Airspeed, altitude, and base position
Which button do you press to transition from CCRP to CCIP?
Depress the missile step button
How do you fix a low wire?
Set a longer AOD to prevent dropping below the minimum release altitude. This is done so by correctly setting IAA at track altitude
What is IAA?
The angle, assessed using the pitch lines in the HUD, between the FPM and the target at the instant of track altitude
How do you fix a high wire?
Set IAA properly, drop by Planned release altitude.
If you have a headwind on your final attack heading, when should you detect it and how do you account for it?
Check winds on downwind. If you have a tailwind on downwind, then you will have a headwind on final attack.
Adjust your base position closer
If you have a headwind on your final attack heading, when should you detect it and how do you account for it?
Check winds on downwind. If you have a headwind on downwind, then you will have a tailwind on final attack.
Adjust your base position wider
What is a technique for how much to adjust your base position when accounting for headwind/tailwinds on final?
Adjust your base position 0.1NM for every 20 knots of headwind
What typically leads to a delay cue occuring?
Strong headwinds, shallow dive angles, and slow airspeeds
What is the typical altitude of the downwind leg of the pop pattern?
2000’ AGL
What is the effect if you execute an early action, or an over-action at your action point in the pop pattern?
A shallow pass
What are your 4 recovery cues when executing a strafe?
- Cease Fire Range
- Break-X in the HUD
- Weapons effects are achieved
- Safe parameters are exceeded
