Permanent dilatation of the airways secondary to chronic infection or inflammation

Persistent productive cough (large volumes of sputum)
Dyspnoea

Post infective: TB, measles, pertussis, pneumonia
Cystic fibrosis
Bronchial obstruction: cancer, foreign body
Immune deficiency: selective IgA, hypogammaglobulinaemia

Ciliary dyskinetic syndromes: Kartagener’s, Young’s
Yellow nail syndrome

Inspiratory muscle training
Postural drainage
Antibiotics for exacerbations
