Bronchial anatomy Flashcards
What is the first take off from the R main bronchus?
The R upper lobe.
What are the sub-segments of the R upper lobe?
apical (B1), posterior (B2), anterior (B3)
What is the name of the classification system where segments are named B-#?
Boyden classification system.
Passing the R upper lobe take off, what airway structure are you in? What takeoff will you come to next?
Bronchus intermedius. Next is the R middle lobe.
What are sub-segments of the R middle lobe?
lateral (B4) and medial (B5)
What is the first takeoff in the R lower lobe?
superior segment (B6)
What are the remaining four segments of the R lower lobe? (after superior)
medial (B7), anterior (B8), lateral (B9), posterior (B10)
What are the segments of the L upper lobe?
in the proper upper lobe, there is a fusion of the apical and posterior segments into a apico-posterior (B1/2) segments and an anterior segment (B3). There is also the lingula which has a superior (B4) and inferior (B5).
How is the L upper lobe different from the R in terms of segments
The L upper lobe apico-posterior segment is a fusion of the apical and posterior segments on the R.
What is the first take off of the L lower lobe?
superior segment (B6).
What are the remaining segments of the L lower lobe?
“ALP” anterior (B8), lateral (B9), posterior (B10)
What is a difference between the segments of the L and R lower lobes
The L lower lobe does not have a medial segment.
