What is citizenship?
Being a citizen of a country and being vested with rights and responsibilities of that state
What do you think we value in Britain?
Human rights, democracy, education, NHS, justice system, history/monarchy
What do you get if you pass the British citizenship test?
Live in the uk forever, hold a British passport, full civic rights, free NHS medical care, no restrictions on your right to work
Why might migration cause a problem to the British society?
Some people may not know anything/much about that culture
What are the legit 5 basic values of Britain?
Democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, tolerance
What does British values mean?
A set of standards which reflect the ideals of a British society
What is human rights?
Basically the right to be classed as a human so freedom, privacy, not tortured or treated in an inhumane way or degrading way, not to be arrested for something which wasn’t against the law when you did it
What does democracy mean?(as a British value)
Making decisions together and right to vote
What does tolerance mean? (As a British value)
To have a tolerance of different faiths and beliefs, learning about diversity, listening to other view points
What does rule of law mean? (As a British value)
Understanding the rules and why they are important
What does individual liberty mean? (As a British value)
Freedom of thought, speech and right to make own decisions
What does mutual respect mean? (As a British value)
Treating others as you would want to be treated
