What is the sweated trade?
A trade in which small items are made- often with poor conditions and little pay.
How did people in the 1800s feel towards the poor?
They believed the poor were poor through their own actions.
What is the ‘poverty line’?
The line in society that determines if you live in poverty. It takes into account employment, accommodation etc.
Who was Seebohm Rowntree?
A social reformer who did lots of research in order to change attitudes towards the poor.
