Land often disused and derelict, site developed so reduces urban sprawl, often in urban areas reducing car use

Very run down, gave bad first impression, first area visitors see from Train station

Developed as industrial area in 18th century, often flooded until construction, railway in 1841
How successful has Temple Quarter regeneration been
Must improve area socially, economically and environmentally, enterprise zone, improved access from in and around Bristol, new bridge to former diesel depot gives access to Bristol Arena
How has area been regenerated
4000 new jobs by 2020, glass wharf, engine shed, temple studio, temple meads station, paintworks
What is Bristol Arena
Due to open in 2018, access by new bridge, developed with cafes, offices and flats, up to 12,000 capacity
